Jonathan Mann ‘77

Alumni of the month - Jonathan Mann ‘77Jonathan Mann, a graduate from 1977, is an anchor and reporter for CNN International. Based in the network's Atlanta headquarters, Mann is a 20-year veteran journalist of print, radio and television. He currently writes and broadcasts a daily segment called “Insight,” which looks behind the biggest stories of the day.

Mann has covered a multitude of international news events, from the fall of the Berlin Wall and the last days of apartheid in South Africa to the release of Nelson Mandela from prison and the rise of Vladimir Putin as President of Russia. Every December Mann hosts "The Prize for Peace," a discussion with the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, live from Oslo, Norway. Mann has reported on the war in Iraq, the Middle East conflict, the September 11th terrorist attacks and the sex scandal in the U.S. Catholic Church.

Previously, Mann worked as an anchor on CNN's U.S. network for a variety of weekend and prime time weeknight programs. Before his duties as an anchor, Mann was CNN's first Paris correspondent, reporting on the French Parliamentary and Presidential elections, the consolidation of the European Union as well as culture, fashion and food.

Before coming to CNN, Mann was a writer for United Press International (UPI) and The Montreal Gazette. He also worked for CBC Radio and NBC Radio. A native of Montreal, Canada, Mann speaks fluent French and the last remnants of broken Hindi, the latter a holdover from his days as a freelance journalist on the Indian subcontinent.

Mann received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from York University in Toronto, Canada.
