Tuition Assistance

Offering tuition assistance is vital to JPPS-Bialik. It ensures that JPPS-Bialik remains inclusive and accessible to a diverse student population despite rising costs, and that no student is denied a Jewish education or is obliged to leave due to financial hardship. This affirms JPPS-Bialik’s pluralistic vision of Jewish continuity.

JPPS-Bialik offers two assistance programs: Financial Aid and Flexible Tuition.

Financial Aid:

JPPS-Bialik understands that many families, for a myriad of reasons, cannot afford the annual tuition. Financial aid is offered, at varying levels, depending on need. For the school year 2006-2007 approximately 90 families received some level of tuition reduction.

Some of the criteria that are used to evaluate the fee reduction are:

• Income from all sources
• Expenses
• Assets
• Liabilities
• Lifestyle
• Size of Family

The financial aid request is reviewed by a committee to ensure that the fairest possible decision is rendered. Please click on one of the following links.

Flexible Tuition:

An opportunity for eligible children to pursue a Jewish education.

This is the fifth year that JPPS-Bialik is offering a Flexible Tuition Program. This program is designed to attract middle income families who do not strictly speaking meet the requirements for financial aid but who do require assistance in order to have their children attend or continue at JPPS-Bialik. The program allows for a maximum potential reduction of 25% of school fees.

Who Is Eligible?

Parents who feel that their financial situation may qualify them for consideration are encouraged to apply. As a general guide, family income is in excess of $75,000.

What are the criteria for families who wish to apply?

The Flexible Tuition Program measures eligibility and rate of fee reduction based on criteria that include:
• Family size
• Income
• Assets
• Liabilities

Sydney Shapiro Flexible Tuition Program Bursaries:

The 2011-12 school year will be the fifth year that we are offering the Sydney Shapiro Flexible Tuition Program Bursaries. Thanks to Sydney Shapiro Z”L, Treasurer and Honorary Vice-President of JPPS-Bialik for over four decades, we are able to offer bursary assistance designated for students entering Bialik High School. These bursaries will be awarded to a number of Grade 6 students who would otherwise not be able to attend Bialik High School. These bursaries, valued at $2000 each, will be given out on a renewable basis until graduation or leaving, as long as a demonstrable financial need is met.
