Bialik aims to benefit from the latest innovations in technology in education. With the goal of enhancing the learning experience, technology is integrated into the curriculum across all grade levels and disciplines.
Our one-to-one laptop program is currently in its fifth year. All students in the senior school have their own laptops, ensuring equal access to technology any time and anywhere for all students. This gives students access to the richest resources and the best tools in the classroom. The laptop program contributes to a student-centred environment that encourages responsibility for their learning, enables collaboration, and takes advantage of their different learning styles. There is a strong focus on information literacy, the writing process, scientific method, and effective communication.
In the junior school, a fleet of three classroom sets of wireless laptop computers provide mobility and flexibility in the use of technology. As well, there are desktop computers in the library. All computers have high-speed Internet access. Many classrooms are equipped with digital projectors and interactive whiteboards. A variety of peripherals are used for photography, video production, and desktop publishing. Students use technology as a learning tool in the classroom, independently or collaboratively, for writing, research, data collection, experiment simulations, mathematical analysis, local and global communication, and multimedia presentations.
Students, teachers, and parents make extensive use of our online community, “FirstClass@Bialik.” This communication and conferencing system allows students to work collaboratively in and out of the classroom, with each other and with their teachers. In addition, it provides easy and safe e-mail communication among all members of the school community.
