Extracurricular Activities

HELLO PUGS FANS!

The elementary basketball program has been a huge success to date. The Boys and Girls teams have now completed their regular season and playoff schedule.

The Lady Pugs ended their regular season with a perfect 8-0 record and what turned out to be a bye directly to the finals where they would put that record on the line against a very gritty and determined Akiva Devils team. However, on March 25th 2010 at around 5:00pm the Lady Pugs were the ones lifting the WESBL Trophy. The girls used tough defense and key scoring opportunities to put this game away. This is the 2nd year in a row that the girls have staked claim to the title.

It has been a tremendously successful season for the girls as their strong work ethic and passion for the game were very apparent. Congrats to the LADY PUGS and their Coaches for a great 2009-2010 season!!

The boys also led the way throughout the regular season only losing one game in the process. The boys had a bye into the semi-finals where they dispatched Hebrew Academy in what was a tough physical affair at the YM-YWHA. Right after the girls final the Pugs hit the hardcourt for their championship matchup against a very big and game Akiva Devils team. This game would come down to the final 2 minutes of play but alas it was not meant to be for our PUGS as the Devils squeaked out a narrow victory. Although, the Pugs were not able to lift the championship trophy they will be able to draw on this experience as they graduate from the elementary school ranks and head off to high school.

A big thanks to the PUGS Coach on guiding them to their silver medal finish.

We look forward to the 2010-2011 basketball season and all that it will have to offer.
