The 2nd annual Bands on the Run took place in the Helen and Sam Steinberg Auditorium on Sunday, October 30th, to a full house. Bialik student, alumni and teacher bands took to the stage, much to the enjoyment of the audience.
(Côte St. Luc, QC) November 8th, 2011—JPPS- Bialik announced today that it has decided not to pursue a merger between the two institutions at this time.
"While the concept of the merger has much merit and deserved to be explored, after much consultation, feedback and consideration, we have determined that our singular focus at this juncture should be on strengthening our own schools and securing their future," said Neil Creme, Co-president, JPPS- Bialik. "We believe this is the best path to a vibrant Jewish day school system for the benefit of our own school community, as well as for the Montreal Jewish community generally," continued JPPS - Bialik Co-president, David J. Shapiro.
For those who were lucky enough to catch the 6:00 pm Telejournal news on Radio Canada, Monday, October 24th, you would have seen Bialik students singing in Yiddish and speaking in French, under the excellent tutelage of our beloved Lorna Smith! We couldn’t be prouder!

The Honourable Peter Van Loan, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, on behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, announced October 5th the 84 recipients from across Canada. “Great teachers inspire great minds to be their best,” said Minister Van Loan. “Today, we celebrate outstanding educators who are igniting the curiosity of their students and making Canada a better place, one child at a time.”
Bialik’s New Leadership in Judaic Studies and Jewish Life
(Côte St. Luc, QC) August 25, 2011- Bialik High School students are being welcomed back to school not just by Ken Scott, its new principal, but also by new leadership in Jewish Studies and Life: Rabbi Shimon Felix and Rabbi Dov Whitman. Aside from experience in formal education, Rabbi Felix was the Executive Director of the Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel, and prior to that, Assistant and Advisor to the Chief Rabbi of Great Britain. Rabbi Whitman has his Master’s in Education from McGill where he also worked as a Jewish Educator for Hillel and a McGill Chaplain together with chaplains of other faiths.
The Meet and Greet for Ken Scott, Bialik’s new principal, on June 14th was truly an event to remember. Ken was especially moved by Corey Newman ’11 and Brontë Goldberger ’11 presenting him with a mezuzah for his office door, a truly emotional moment. New Principal Appointed for Bialik High School
(Côte St. Luc, QC) May 30, 2011- The JPPS-Bialik Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ken Scott as the new Principal of Bialik High School. He will assume his post on July 1st, 2011. Mr. Scott is an experienced, knowledgeable and skilled school administrator with more than 25 years of experience as an educator in Quebec, including expertise in the area of special education.
