Juvenile Girls Div 1 Basketball

The Juvenile Girls Div 1 basketball team went up against a familiar opponent from LPHS on Feb 21st 2011. These two teams met in last year's juvenile girls semi-final at LPHS. LPHS was able to come away with an easy victory as they hosted our Bulldogs one year ago. This year it was the Bialik Bulldogs who held the home court advantage. The Bulldogs were looking to punch their ticket to the GMAA championships being held at Bialik on Wednesday the 23rd of February. The Bulldogs came into the game having won 13 straight contests and were looking poised to get to the championships. Unfortunately, LPHS had other ideas on this afternoon. The final score in the game was 52-50 in favour of LPHS. The game was a close one throughout and could have gone either way. Emotions were high at the end of the game as this was the last time some of the girls on the team would wear the blue Bialik uniform. We wish the graduating girls nothing but success in their future endeavours and hope that they learned a great deal about hard work and dedication this season. The girls finished the season an unbelievable 13-1 and should hold their heads high. Tryouts and practices for next year's Juvenile girls team will begin in the next few weeks as a new crop of players and a group of returning players will look to build on the success of the 2010-2011 squad.
